The Institute of Ceramics and Building Materials (ICiMB) is a Polish research unit created in 2007, following the merger of  the Institute of Glass and Ceramics, the Institute of Refractory Materials, the Institute of Mineral Building Materials and the CEBET. ICiMB activity is concentrated in the areas of the non-metallic mineral processing industry, particularly associated with the production of ceramic and glass, refractory materials, and mineral building materials, in the field of biological sciences and the environment, and also in the field of engineering. ICiMB is a notified body nr 1487 within the framework of EC Directive 89/106/EEC. From the beginning of its existence, the Institute has provided engineering and consulting support to the lime and cement industry, authorities and end-users.

The Institute focuses on:

  • carrying out R&D work as well as dissemination and  implementation of their results into practice; 

  • state-of-the-art analysis and assessments in the direction  of technological developments;

  • active participation in standardization and certification;

  • quality assessment and verification of certificates of  conformity;

  • publishing, training, protection of intellectual property and  delivery of scientific, technical or patent information;

  • small-batch production of experimental apparatus and  equipment, as well as special refractory ceramics, binders  and building materials.
